If you’ve got a second Gen FZ1 or the 04-08 R1 (and the FZ8, too) you probably already know about the Stator grenade, and found your way here. Yamaha dropped the ball with this one production flaw on an awesome motor, and it’s not a horrible job to replace it and do away with the possibility that yours becomes a failure. Spending the money and small amount of time to replace it avoids sitting on the side of the road somewhere with the stock magnets in pieces in your oil pan leading to a costly repair.
This is the best bang for your buck kit to go with – RM Stator builds a fantastic replacement with the magnets sealed into the body of the rotor instead of held on with epoxy.
